lil alien face generator

♥ click sketch press ♥ press space bar ♥

This face generator uses randomness to create many many possibilities of creature, that someone may create through simple interactions with the piece. I enjoyed the challenge of creating differing features that could work together in any combination. I also challenged myself to add additional movement to the sketch by using arctangent to make the alien’s eyes track the users mouse.

experimental clock

♥ click turn key to start metronome ♥

Music keeps time to many moments in my life. When I’m walking around nyc I listen to playlists that keep time with my foot falls, and when I’m running late I choose songs with a higher bpm to speed my passage. When asked to create an experimental clock for a class project, I thought of this and designed my ‘clock’ to be a metronome. A steady companion to give a little rhythm to the passing time.

too much coffee

This is a data portrait tracking my caffeine intake over the course of a week. I tracked the type of beverage, amount of caffeine in that beverage, and time of day it was consumed.

snuggle puddle

A simple game made with p5.js. This was the first game I made entirely from code without the aid of an engine such as Unity. Enjoy!

pittie please

I chose to approach this project from the lens of adding missing context or data to an existing set. I found an API that granted me access to many many pictures of dogs and even allowed me to sort them by breed. As I was clicking through these breed options I noticed that a user could select pitbull. Pitbulls are not a breed of dog but a grouping of phenotypes found in such breeds as the american pitbull terrier, american staffordshire terrier, staffordshire bull terrier and the american bully. Most dogs identified as "pitbulls" do not have DNA from the “pitbull’ breeds present. This is potentially harmful because dogs labeled as pitbull will stay in shelters three times longer than dogs designated as their actual breed. This is one of the few misconceptions about pit bulls that desperately needs to be rectified in order to give these dogs back the respect, care and love they deserve. SO I focused my project around providing the missing context and facts that many people need when encountering pictures of these wonderful doggos.
