Don’t Lick Your Friends

As an infinite scroll-style comic, "Don't Lick Your Friends" presented a significant compositional challenge that required multiple iterations to achieve the desired result. After completing the original comic, I felt inspired to take it a step further by animating and sonifying the project. Maintaining the descending motion of the source material was crucial, which required me to adapt my animation style.

After completing the visuals I began to integrate sound design using Pro Tools. I even composed some simple musical accompaniment, despite not being a musician myself. The goal was to enhance the overall experience and create a deeper connection with the audience.

By experiencing both iterations – the static comic and the dynamic animation with sound – I gained a better understanding of how movement and flow can be crafted in different mediums. This creative journey allowed me to explore the possibilities of storytelling, engaging with the audience through a blend of visual and auditory elements. Though challenging, the process was highly rewarding, and it broadened my skills as a creator.

Created in fulfillment of project ‘Infinite Scroll’ for class Experimental Comics, The New School, Parsons School of Design.
